When you refuse to see, the suffering staring right at you,
And don’t even blink, thinking it doesn’t really concern you,
When you fail to appreciate, any image your eyes just took,
You are no different, and no better, than someone who cannot look.

When you refuse to listen, to cries for help all around you,
And turn them away, pretending they weren’t talking to you,
When you fail to appreciate, any sound  reaching your ear,
You are no different, and no better, than someone who cannot hear.

When you refuse to convey, feelings floating on the heart in you,
And lock them away, as if speech wasn’t something meant for you,
When you fail to appreciate, any word you utter however meek,
You are no different, and no better, than someone who cannot speak.

When you refuse to hold, the things most dearest to you,
And wish them away, as if touch was a stranger to you,
When you fail to appreciate, any wound the heart tried to heal,
You are no different, and no better, than someone who cannot feel.

If all you can cognise, are incessant slights and personal offences,
There is no point, no necessity, in you even having any senses,
If the only purpose a sense can serve, is to ignore and offend,
They are better off, given to someone on whom they can defend.

It is a really sad world to live in, worthlessly having something,
And always  disillusioned with life, finding comfort in nothing,
In contrast, those with nothing, live a life far more content,
Because they realise, how the simplest things, are important.

This one is for another Beacon, a new one called Anurag Basu. This one is close to my religious beliefs and a continuation of the Godism series. Thank you Anurag, for reminding me again, what we fritter away our gifts on. To summarize, my takeaways, the movie makes a very subtle moral point, that every character that has all organs properly working, are racked by either greed, anger, hatred, unhappiness, or some other mental malady, and the people who are impaired, physically or mentally, are the ones who are the happiest and lead the most contented and carefree lives. I know, it’s a movie, and one purposely tailored that way to be quietly manipulative. But the bigger point, it raises the all important questions, that whatever we have, a lot of people don’t, and if we can’t be greatful and appreciative of that, there’s no point in having what we don’t acknowledge, and take for granted.

Most important of all, it makes you rethink how you want to use what you’ve been granted.
